Hi! I’m Dr. Audra Stinson. I am a college professor, as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor (Texas) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (Louisiana) with 20 years of experience in the mental health field, working in both psychiatric hospitals and in private practice. In this capacity, I have helped children, adolescents, and adults overcome a variety of life struggles. These range anywhere from eating disorders and trauma, to depression and anxiety. I also offer mental training for athletes, as well as High School home school consultations, career guidance, couple’s therapy, family therapy, and play therapy.
I provide diagnostic ADHD evaluations and Psychoeducational Assessments for children, adolescents and adults. If desired, I will work collaboratively with the school, pediatrician, and/or employer, to help you or your child obtain any necessary accommodations and/or resources.
My life hasn’t been all lollipops and rainbows. I have faced numerous struggles, but God hasn’t failed me yet. He has used these struggles to help grow me and give me the strength to face the future. Most importantly though, these trials have blessed me with better insight into the challenges of others and provided me with a deeper empathy for the pain and suffering that each person experiences. It is this empathy that moves me and motivates me towards helping clients heal from their wounds so that they can discover their God given strengths and purpose.
In each session with me, you are fully accepted and emotionally embraced. There is no judgement. I will walk with you and utilize a treatment approach that is tailored to your own specific needs. This approach might include techniques from Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Trauma-Based Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Client-Centered therapy. Whatever the approach, your struggles will be explored from a holistic perspective where we attend to the spiritual, physical and emotional aspects. Ultimately the goal is to help empower you with the skills, courage and confidence that you need to live life more fully and freely.
